New to this board and have a question

I frequent Pelicanparts.com's board (I have a 911) and somebody there was nice enough to give me info for this forum.

I'm thinking about buying a 1995 E320 with about 100K. I'm comparing a couple of cars and was wondering what's in the "special edition" package. Can anybody help? I've searched, but no luck.

Thanks in advance!

Nobody knows or can lead me in the right direction?

BTW, I've been lurking and reading some of your threads. Very funny stuff. It's good to see there's more people out there that are as crazy about their cars as Porschefiles!

I'm kinda surprised no one has offered any opinions for ya. As you've seen, we're full of them
Might check over at the "featured cars" forum. seems there's been some E300/E320 discussions over there. But it's not a real active forum. Check up at the Tech forum too.

Hey Chili,

I've got a '95 E-320 Special Edition!

If I'm correct, the difference is this:

1. available in spruce green paint
2. six hole wheels usually available only on the E-420
3. burl wood on the dash, doors, and center console instead of the zebrano

That's the only differences I know of. It was really more of a "package" available when you buy the car.

I bought mine last year with nearly 120,000 miles on it and have been very happy with it!

Hope this helped. Welcome to the board!

Ahh, thanks! I knew somebody must have one, or know what's in the package. Thanks Stafano!

Ohh, and Frank, that's very funny! A Unimog as a daily driver. Hmm. Actually, I saw one being towed on a flatbed last weekend on the 10 freeway in Cali. It was bright yellow and looked to be in great shape. I saw it from a long way away and knew what it was. Very cool. I gave the driver the "thumbs up." I was in my 911, so you know, gotta support the German car guys!

Here's a pic of my German machine. It's a '74 that I've restored.

Ahh, they're not that expensive anymore. Now, if you want to make it fast and handle well, then that's another story. The re-builds on the motors are what kill ya!

As for being too tall, there have been several guys that have cut and re-welded the seat rails lower. That combined with a lower aftermarket seat gains them about 4 more inches of headroom. Mostly for the taller guys who want to A/X or race the car. Too tall and their helmets hit. I'm only 5' 11" so it's not a concern for me.

Fun cars and a GREAT group of people. I've sold and bought thousands of dollars worth of used parts and not once been burned. Almost always been sight unseen, too. I hope the Mercedes "classic" croud is the same.

Only real exposure I've had to 911's was a friend about 20 years ago that got one at a good price(long story). Was a real sweet car. Had profesionally flared fenders and a nice set of real wide Center Line rims, ect, ect. I helped him with the cylinder heads one evening after he tore them out to replace something(don't remember what now). Man! Who engineered those things?!
Anyway, he drove it (or rather his wife did ) for a couple years, but eventually sold it. He got tired of the money pit it turned into.
But then we hear those stories here all the time

I totally agree there!! Hence the purchase of my '95 E-320, the first Benz I've ever owned that was under fifteen years old!

Hmm, not sure if it's "when" he buys it as much as "if" he buys it!

I'm just paranoid, I guess. It will be replacing a 93 Accord that has never given me a problem. Solid car. Not as nice, of course, but nonetheless a great daily driver. But, if I do get it, I will for sure post some pics!

BTW, I noticed the pic max size on this site is smaller than Pelican's. Man, I have to WAY reduce stuff even if I have my camera on the lowest resolution setting. I'm surprised you can even see any detail on my car above.

Yeh, hard to replace a reliable 'ol Accord. But a Benz is just a bit classier to be seen in
