After watching USC wipe the Rose Bowl field with Michigan, does anyone have any doubts who the #1 team in the country is?

LSU and Oklahoma are lucky...not because they get to play in the Broken Championship Series Tidy Bowl...they are lucky because they don't have to play USC.

That's right.

USC is without a doubt the number one team in the country.

They are also the only unbeaten team in regulation. Their only loss occured in triple overtime, when Pete Carol decided to play his Freshmen and Sophomore's to give them some experience.

Winning the rose bowll smells like roses and tastes like sugar.

My formula put USC at the top. The BCS should use my formula. The BCS system uses the final strength of schedule to calculate ratings. I think one which uses actual strength of opponent on game day would be more accurate.

Can anyone actually find a website which shows the math involved in calculating the BCS rankings?

Yeah, the so-called "strength of schedule" is what did USC in.

It is a subjective rating, and the teams in the Big 10 and SEC conferences are thought to be stronger than the Pac 10.

There is a bias agianst the Pac 10.

They are going to need to change that as the Pac 10 is 4-2 in bowl games so far....

You guys are dreaming if you think USC is the best team in the country. There will be only one true National Champion and it will be decided in the Sugar Bowl. USC's schedule is what cost them a shot. I don't see anyone screaming for Miami Ohio with their one loss weak schedule. Their only loss was to a very strong Iowa team that also beat Michigan.

The coaches agreed with the BCS now they have got to live with the results. Oh yeah, Al Gore was also the people's choice. He is not president nor will USC be the National Champions.

I don't hink LSU or OU is the slightest bit scared of USC. LSU and OU have the #1 and #2 defenses in the country. The OU players pretty much racked up on every possible award. I think USC should be scared to play OU or LSU. The land of fruits and nuts is warping your thoughts.

USC had a great year and congrats on the bowl win!

Yep, that kind of bugs me too but the Big 12 and SEC are usually hurt because of the extra game. Had OU been in the ACC, Big 10, Pac 10, ETC..., they would still be undefeated since those conferences do not have a championship game.

I've heard the question posed, "How can you be a National Champion when you are not even a local champion?" It does rub people the wrong way but no more so than it bothering the person who believes that Al Gore should have been the president since he had more votes than Dubya. We just have to accept the BCS and hope we get a better way soon enough. I know OU and LSU are in favor of a playoff system. I'd bet top dollar that USC wishes we had the system already in place.

There is no Pac-10 championship game perse, but before the BCS system was established, the team with the best record in the Pac-10 played the Big 10 champion in the Rose Bowl, where the Big 10 team gets defeated.

I'm sure the BCS will fix the system again where a team cannot advance unless it wins its own division.

However, the BCS system will ultimately never work unless there is a playoff series, like in all the other college sports.

I'm not a UCLA fan nor a USC fan but I am a NCAA football fan. I don't really care too much for the Big 10 and I'm still fuming that they won the National Championship over Miami on such a bad call.

I'm not a Miami fan either but I hate to see refs throw games on bad calls. Heck, did you see how many bad calls theat the refs made at this years FSU - Florida game? The ACC even apologized for the referees mistakes. They made 6 calls that would have made a 24 point difference in UF's score and subsequently a blow-out for FSU. What about Ohio State's victory over Penn State on a blown call. Man, the crappy calls just burn me up! I think we need instant replay more than we need a playoff system. Besides, I don't think a play off system would be good for the bowl games.
