---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are plenty of facts that are known, and are becoming known, day by day. Here are a few: --The U.S. treasury has, so far, been depleted by about $200 billion dollars in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the former of which was widely thought to be justified, the latter of which has lost its majority approval rating. ---About 1,000 Americans have lost their lives in those wars so far. ---The checklist of rationales for the Iraq war, new ones added as old ones are discarded, is longer than Michelle Pfeiffer's dance card. ---Today, the co-chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee said that, had the Congress known when it voted what it knows today, it would not have authorized the Iraq war. (I guess it's a fact that he said it, but just his opinion that there would have been no war resolution). Anyhoo--you get the idea. There's plenty of information, but one has to look beyond Faux News and the major networks. Joe B. |

Narwhal,
I never call anybody stupid. I do imply most Americans do not have the desire to tune in on news channels from around the world because of their language limitations. Do not put words in my mouth. BTW, have not watched MM's movie or follow his news reels. Waiting for the movie to come out in video.

Actually, I agree with you: The Supreme's should've stayed out and so should the state courts, which ordered cherry-picking districts to count--great idea, that. It should have followed the constitution and been settled in the House of Representatives as a contested election is consitutionally mandated. Of course...the House was dominated by Repos. Then, in teh subsequent recounts by newspaper consortia the Bush team won every frigging count. Same outcome either way. The Supremes just gave whiners a new conspiracy theory to ***** about rather than letting the constitution do its job. Wanna *****? ***** about the Electoral College. Convince Congress to write an amendment getting rid of that. Hahahaha!! Bot Last edited by Botnst; 07-10-2004 at 12:27 AM. |

The real scandal in Florida was the removal of thousands of black voters from the voter rolls in the greatest electoral fraud in American history. They stole that state, and got away with it.
I hate the Electoral College. It is one of the few stupid things in our constitution. |

Its the same struggle for enfranchisement that the EU is facing. The smaller European states fear domination by Germany, France, and England. England fears French domination and France fears the Germans (duh)--though they all make public kissy-face. So England negotiates with the second and third-tier states to offer a balance against Grano-German hegemony. Iraq is just one issue for the political struggle in Europe. Bot |
