Personally, I'd say you should wait for the CD. The procedure is ten pages long and requires other procedures to complete. You will probably need to heli-coil the head bolt threads for re-installation which, I think, requires a drilling jig because of angled bolt holes. This is a very expensive job you are contemplating.

This is from chatting with an experienced MB mechanic regarding pulling out the head bolt without damaging the thread. He said rather than using the hex bit, he would jam in a torx bit and use air gun to loosen the head bolt. Said he hav'nt stripped any thread yet.
I don't have first hand experience, just pass it on.

How do you use an impact wrench on the bolts in the cam's shadow?

While you are waiting, you can drain the coolant from the radiator and block, pull the intake manifold, and the exhaust manifolds. That is pretty straighforward, and should keep you busy for a while.
I used 3/8 hex-bit sockets with 6" bits (from KD). They work on the head bolts and are great for the intake stuff. For the head bolts, I used a 1/2 breaker bar with a 2 ' piece of pipe slipped over the end to provide better leverage.
