Steering wheel vibration
On my 1999 W 210 E240 (42500miles on the clock)I have a vibration in the steering wheel. New tires, balanced sevral times, new braking disc etc. After driving some miles the vibration was less After a tip from my friend, I inspect the propeller shaft, and find a great play between the splines in the midle of the shaft. The workshop says this parts can not be repair. Buy a new on. And this part are very expensive. I have a spare shaft after my old W 126, and this shaft have a big nut (40x1,5mm) on the shaft to tight the shaft to the splines. I place the W 210 shaft in my lathe and make it like the W 126 shaft to fit the nut.. No problem at all. Place the modified shaft in my W 210, and BINGO. The vibration was gone. The car runs very vell. and mush more quiet than before Se pictures From Norway Arvid W 210 E 240 1999 W 107 350 SL 1971 |
