ASR Problem "HELP" - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

I have a 1993 500 SL that often gives the ASR light indication, don't really understand what this is. If I turn the car off and restart it, it usally goes off. But now it staying on, please advise if you know what my problem is. When the light is on the car has no power.

Try to doing a search on the topic "ASR light" - you will find a lot of helpful threads. There's a number of things it could be ranging from inexpensive to quite expensive. You should also try to get the ASR fault codes read.

To add to this, look for code retrieve tool postings .. With this, you can access the codes yourself on that chassis.
I have them if you get to that point.

Does the Cruise work?

I have a 600sl which had a asr problem, took months to find out what it was. Finally discovered it was a burnt out wiring loom which goes to one of the accuators. Have a look at that, there is a black cover you need to take of first.

Check my web page, MENU#24 for similar problems and how it was fixed. Should be almost identical to yours.

Hello.. I had my ASR and ABS light to come on.. my 1995 E420 Special Edition I tried everything to figure it out.. I replace my Stop Light Switch and it fixed the problem..

This was cheap.. under 20.00 and I installed it myself in under an hour..
the hard part was to get to the switch..

I'd give this a try...

thats great for you but before Dale93500SL spends the money on a stop lamp switch he should read the codes as Arthur suggested from the 38 pin connector
