300E Tool Question for you MB Techs

Can one of the MB techs here tell me which is the correct tool for removing the rear subframe bushings on a 300E? The two pictured here are made by Sir Tools and there seems to be some confusion as to which is which. On the S-T site, the same tool (the one I've listed as an M 0079) is labeled as both an M 0079 and an M 0087, but only the one labeled as the M 0079 is in the current MB tools listing. They're both listed as being for the FRONT rear subframe bushings. Some tool companies, such as ZDMAK Tools , list both of these tools using the exact same description, but different prices, for both. Can anyone straighten this out and tell me which one is correct or preferable to do the best job?

Also, what about the REAR rear subframe bushings? Do they need a special puller/installer or are they easily replaced by hand or with simple tools?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm considering buying the tool for doing the job on my own car and then making the tool available on a rental basis for other forum members if I can drum up enough interest to make it worthwhile. If you're reading this and think you might be interested in renting the tool, please drop me a pm or email.

Thanks,

Gary

I'd consider renting them somtime!!

I was thinking the rear one would pop out like a W123/126 subframe bushing.
I've got the lower carrier bearing/bushing tool if you want to do a loaner trade sometime?

Michael,

Thanks, I would be interested in using that tool as I'm replacing all the rear suspension bushings. Does this tool r&r the bushings at both ends of the lower control arm? What bearing does it work on?

I'll let you know what tools I end up with that you might be interested in swapping. I'm still acquiring a few.

Still looking for any replies from MB techs about the correct tool to use on the subfreame bushings. If you have the time, I'd certainly appreciate the benefit of your knowledge.

Thanks,

Gary

NaHHH,

You don't want to mess with those inboard LC bushings in the rear-the tooling or labor far exceeds the cost of a part. Bet there is a 50/50 chance they will botch it if they have not done one.

The tool I was mentioning is the outboard attachment to the lower control arm in the rear.

I bet most ppl just improvisewithout the subframe tools

What's so difficult about it? It looks like a pretty straightforward job with a special puller or a shop press, as long as you have the proper sized sleeves and pushers. Am I missing something?

Do you have the proper supportin tools and press?

I'm just pointing out the bushings are say $15 each and the fatory control arms are say $44 each. You would find someone willing to R&R the bushing for $29 each.
I think I've got some of the bushings around the house. If you can wait till I get home this FALL, I'll ship you a pair for $20.

I've got access to a press and I'm reasonably sure I can find or make the pieces to press them out and in.

Thanks for the parts offer, but unless Fall is coming in the next week or two, I think I'll need to buy the bushings sooner than that. They seem to be available for under $10 ea. from several online sources.
