W116 automatic Doors locking
Who has a schematic of the air system used for automatic locks. When I close the door the auto lock is not activated. If i lock the doors by hand , when i start the engine the doors unlock where should I look?

Search Central locking
or: go to Vintage Section/useful links/www.116.org/ garage handbook. there is a section for central locking with diagrams and diagnostic routines for isolating problems. I have just got my locks fixed in my 116. Maybe if you re-stated your problem I could give you some help. I am not sure what your difficulty is by reading your first post. |

thank you for answering. the problem is: the central locking doesn't work when I close the driver's door. To close the car I've to lock every door in dividually. In that situation when i unlock the driver's door nothing happens until I start the engine and then all the doors became unlocked slowly.
thanks J.P. |

http://www.ultrahot.com/vacuum/interlock_system_layout_1_0203.jpg but the principle is the same. There is a valve in the drivers door that provides vacuum to either the "open" or "close" vacuum systems when the door is locked/unlocked. Each of the other doors (as well as the trunk and fuel door on a w123) has an actuator with two vacuum lines connected to it. There is also a vacuum tank that provides an inventory of vacuum when the engine is not running. In my experience, the most likely leak location is one of the door actuators or a loose vacuum line someplace. There are some threads here on troubleshooting vacuum leaks. The last time my w123 did this, I just pulled apart all the doors until I found the leaky one (crude but effective). I'm sure you will find more elegant solutions if you search on 'vacuum leak.' |

it sounds like you have a leak in the locking circuit. you may have others.
Can you run the engine for a few minutes with the doors locked and then shut the car off. Then wait a few minutes. Try to unlock the doors either with the key from the outside or from inside the car with the lock button. What does that do? Try the same thing with running the car and then shutting it off and try to lock the doors. What is that result? Without a vacuum pump, it will be harder, but you can diagnose and repair the system without one. It will just take longer. Try the above and post what you find. Note the speed at which the doors lock and unlock. Is one or more door faster to respond than the others? Check it out and post what you find |

tahnk you all of you.
When the car is running It's impossible to have the doors stayed close, they open themselves. After running the car for a few min and shut it off the door will not close automatically after an action on the key. Instead Of looking for leaks I'm wondering if it's not a rubber connecting element which might 've been squeezed. The locking problem came after I reconnected the wiring of the automatic radio antenna on the right wing which has lead to remove the Electronic unit. I know that on my old W114 280CE some air pipes where running in these locations. While reffitting the Electronic unit I might have done something Wrong , I will check this soon. In all cases may thanks to those who answer the W116.org is very useful. |
