Typically > repairing a torn CV boot requires removal of the axle shaft > removal of the CV bearing assembly > a messy job >> plus most of the time the CV bearing assy is pressed on and requires a mongo hydraulic press to remove >> I'm to the point now > if the boot is torn > I just buy a replacement half-shaft.. a real bi%^& to spend big money to fix a $15 rubber boot...
I have heard that there are rubber boot repair kits > permits you to fit a sliced boot over the CV assy > and then glue it whole > but I would think this repair would not last too long > too much centrifical force constantly applied > the fix would fail over time.. |
