I was thinking about ordering a cd changer from car-part.com, but how hard would it be to install in my E320? I'm assuming it has to go in the trunk.. I don't believe the car ever came with one. I'm a dealer, so I really don't know.. I don't see any wires from just lifting up the carpet in the back,. So would this mean I could have to run a wire to the trunk?

hello, I have not had any experience with your model yr. But on both my w124 and w140 which has the same radio, the connection for the changer is in the trunk. check either the left or right side of the panels. You will have to get the trunk liner out of the way. also check the glove box. On my friends 2001 C320 the changer is in the glove box. You will most likely need a adapter for the factory harness. I have 94-98 radio and I sold both cd changer and replace it with an Ipod, if you have an Ipod you might consider that instead of cd changer.

You might want to check on the type of signal cable required for your CD changer first. I don't recall what year Mercedes started using fiber optic cable for the CD player but the 1999 model year might require fiber optic.

This is about a 15 minute job. You just need to plug it in the already provided wiring located on the left side of the trunk behind the removeable carpet panel. It secures by drilling two holes in the lower trunk.

The OEM CD changer is mounted in the LEFT trunk well in the W210 E-Class. I believe most E's should have the wiring harness buried under the trunk mat/carpet set ... perhaps stuck towards the rear seat area (it likely will NOT jump out at you if you "peek" in the trunk well).

If you are using an OEM CD changer, I would make sure you get the mounting bracket, along with the CD changer cover, to help protect against bumps, scrapes, and bruises. I would call a MB dealer to confirm which specific model CD changer works with your car ... as there are many different CD changers ... many of which you might THINK would work ... but will not.
