Supporting equipment for an M120 engine.
Gentelmen
I just purchased a wrecked 1996 SL600 with a good engine and transmission. The intent is to put this engine and trans into a 560SL. I would like to know what are the supporting pieces of electronic equipment necessary to connect to this engine. I will be building a run stand for this engine which so far will include 1) engine and accessories 2) transmission and shift linkage 3) engine computer 4) trans computer if it has one 5) engine wire harness 6) transmission wire harnaess 7) fuel pump and filter 8) Fuel tank 9) radiator. 10) Cats and O2 sensors. 11) OBDII diagnostic port 12) Batery Starter, and universal ignition switch. Is there anything I might be missing here, especially things like electronic modules that may be bolted to the firewall or under the dash that are required to support the engine. Also what is a CAN bus. Are there components utilizing the CAN bus that are required to support the engine. Plan is to get engine running in car clear of codes before removing engine from SL600. Then get engine running in stand with clear codes, before placing engine into 560SL. Then get engine running in 560SL clear of codes. Then have a blast. John Roncallo |
