In the MB manual or WIS, on job 05-215, what is the very first "NOTE" that you read? (this is near the beginning, right after they show the special tools needed, right after the dial indicator). Read the note very carefully.

Angry

job # 05-215 is the checking and adjusting of the cam timing itself as you must know already, there is no note on a basic setup as i already know after looking all thru this book and all thru all the other garbage that I have. I have had the heads repaired and replaced the chain guides, the chain and the chain tensioner. thanks for any help

I just was in one of my 560's yesterday fiddling w/ cams and the marks are on the washer/tower.. The tower mark is the one that lines up right against the washer, not the one on the back side of the tower, but rather the front.

the attached pic quality is eh, but the blue mark on the gear is where the cam marks are on the other side..

so as the book says its the highly defined mark on the left side and the mark on the right side is the the almost looks like casting mark. thanks for the photo. I saw a picture on ebay from a firm that was selling a pictural view of the parts on the engine and how it all goes goes together. it showed pretty much the same thing. seems it would be a lot simpler to put this in writing for us new comers to the german world of automotive engines. now on to the cold start valve! Thank you for the help.

My understanding is you found the mark on the right side, it's the same on the left. The note simply has wording about how on installation the mark on the cams (plural) is sufficient for cam timing. It has an illustration, granted it is on the right side on the illustration.
On the start injector, can you CHECK the ground wire with an ohmeter??

Question

My question would be how does the injection control modual ground the temp signal to get 3.5 to 5 volts at the fuel pump relay for the cold start acativation? it seems it would have to ground it thru pin # 7 of the control modual? as to checking with an meter yes, clean from the cold start injector, all the way to the control modual and out to the control modual.
thanks for any help in advance.
