Today, while trying to adjust the headlights in my "new" 1991 300CE I discovered that the attaching screws on the inside of the light assemblies was missing on each headlight assembly.
I can easily access the area, on the left hand side headlight, where the screw mounts. All I have to do is remove the "snorkel" attached to the air intake hose (the hose that leads to the air filter housing). But on the right hand side, the grill in front of the two auxiliarry fans prevents from getting access to the third headlight mounting screw. Any suggestions on: 1. getting to the headlight mounting screw w/o removing the auxilliary fans cover or 2. how to remove the fan cover in order to access the mounting screw. The attached pictures should shed soome light on what I am talking about. #1 picture--left hand headlight showing where the attachign screw goes. As you can see, that area is fairly easy to access. #2 picture--right hand side light assembly. There is no screw there (there should be one) but the screw cannot be accessed w/o removing "something." #3 picture--the auxilliary fan covers. PS I have done this job on my 1989 300TE (I've installed Euro lights in the wagon), but the 300TE only has one fan and access to the screws, on either side, is fairly straight-forward. Thanks in advance.
