I have just purchased a 99 slk230. The car is pretty tight but there a couple of noises.
1. When it is warmer outside the top makes a noise seeming to come from the passenger side where the roof attaches to the windshield. It almost sounds like the metal hook or "probe" piece is moving around a little. 2. There is a buzzing vibration from the rear deck. It is there off and on (only hear it when the top is up). In looking underneath the rear deck (from the trunk) I can see a bunch of pulleys and wires used to operate the roof. It seems like there is probably some vibration of these parts. Is there any fix or way to reduce this, or other ideas on what this might be. |

As with any convertible, they have more noises than a hardtop. Dry seals are usually the culprit, and are the first place to start. There is a fairly new rubber lube that I believe was especially put out wfor the SLK'a. I use it on weatherstrips for all car, and it works great. It comes in a little tube, and you can ask your local factory dealership to use it on your car. I can get the part number if you don't have any luck on your own.
