i did this last year...and did not remove the power steering pump....

the problem is i can't remember what i did exactly..

i do remember that replacing the expansion valve was much more difficult... and
re-threading the belt without taking off the fan was a pia...

when you do that...loosen the alternator... the belt will slip over it... that way you won't lose that thing a ma jig part that everyone always says gets ruined.

i am sorry .. i am a bit tired.

but getting the compressor out wasn't all that difficult.. you just have to wiggle it a bit.
