What is Inner Diameter of Air Pump Pulley? (Need Correct Drift to Remove Bearing)
I need to find, or fashion a Drift to push the bearing from my air pump pulley. What is the inner diameter?
I will either hammer the bearing out, or use a three-jaw gear puller. Has anyone who has done this found one method to be better than the other?

I just used a socket that fit, and hammered it out.

Thanks.
No problems at all getting it out? Also, that was a good idea you described in one of your posts about heating the pulley and freezing the bearing. I intend to do that also. I ordered the bearing yesterday from BearingsDirect.com, and should have it in time for my planned replacement on Friday.

Mine came out without too much fuss. YMMV.

Be careful - when I did mine a month ago using a 3-jaw puller, the race separated and spewed the ball bearings out, then left a ring behind which was nearly impossible to remove. I don't even remember how I removed it, to be honest. The puller would work on a bearing that isn't as shot as mine was, but you still take your chances. In my opinion, use something to drift it out.

I am thinking I will probably need the puller to get the pulley/bearing off the pump shaft (I am certain it will not slide smoothly off). After that, I will hammer the bearing out of the pulley.

I don't remember that being a problem, but my memory is not what it used to be.

Also there should be two locking rings requiring removal, correct? One that secures the pulley to the shaft, and one that secures the bearing in the pulley?

Yes, I believe there are 2 locking rings.

That's right. You'll need a c-clip tool.

I just used a tiny pair of needle-nose pliers I had on hand. I suppose a large pair would work too. The tips just have to be tiny enough to fit the holes of the c-clip.

You certain you don't remember how you removed the ring?

I removed it by pushing on it with a screwdriver.

That's pretty much what I am planning to do. The exposed races are not slippery, so hammering at an angle should, eventually, move it.
