1995 E320 throttle flap actuator
Check engine light is on in the car. No signs of any strange behaviour. The car runs beautifully but was brought to an MB dealer for a diagnosis.
Reads a 022 code for throttle flap actuator. Dealer says the part has to be replaced at a cost of $3450!!! Just wondering if this part can be cleaned and/or lubricated and if this is common? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks |

This would appear to be one of those blatant attempts to get you to buy a new car from them. There is no such thing as a code 022 "throttle flap actuator". You need to learn how to read codes yourself - try a search - and never go to this dealer again, or any other dealer for that matter. And yes, throttle actuators can be cleaned, but you should start by reading the codes yourself.

as per the invoice:
...read out codes has 022 CC/EA actuator reports limp home mode, and 029 02S1 Heater G3/2 Heater current too low. they want to replace the actuator and the 02. I understand they are in the business of replacing and not fixing a problem. the car runs great and just passed the emission test. |
