Don't you watch myth busters?

30 cu in/hr (it's not even a gram I think) isn't enough fuel to carry the weight of the box to speeds intended for a V8 or V6.

A good read if you have time is the Federal Trade Commissions Web Page on gadgets and snake oil. Two areas that are mentioned on the forum frequently are gas saving gizmo's and fuel additives. FTC has labeled them all BS

If you paid $300 for one of these and put it in your car, I would expect you to see a fuel mileage improvement.

That improvement has nothing to do with what you added; just that you did and paid money for it. You would subconsciously alter your driving habits and use less fuel.

If it works (which I doubt) it will gain popularity and be a big hit. Not likely.

While we're on the subject, I had an amazing thing happen a couple of years ago. The fuel filter on my wifes ML320 went bad. It wouldn't hold pressure, which made the pressure bleed off, which made it really hard to start after sitting for a while (like, in the morning).

We ran it like this for several months. While it was in this state, we noticed that the fuel economy was great, like 29-30 mpg on the highway, as read on the driving computer readout. We were so impressed by MB! When we had the filter replaced, the fuel economy went back to normal, 20-21 mpg.

Maybe the reading on the computer were fouled up while the filter was bad, giving us bogus readings, or something like that. Unfortunately, we just believed the readings and never bothered to do a manual calculation, so I don't know if we were really getting that mileage, or not. Oh, well, it was fun while it lasted!

The difference between 29-30 mpg to 20-21 mpg is enormous. I wonder how did one not notice it during several months, that would be approximately 200 miles per tank filling; No need for a calculator.

I always reset the mile counter when filling up and keep a rough visual estimate on the mileage everytime my odometer needle reachs the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, reserve marks. I don't have a computer telling fuel economy but 50% difference would be very noticeable to me.

Looks like another job for the Mythbusters...

Actually there is a technology that has been developed that gets 30% more MPG. It is called DIESEL!!

Oh, we noticed after a while, but silly me, I believed the readings. My wife drives the car, and only fills up every two to three weeks, so it went unnoticed for quite a while.

Actually, the numbers I quoted were not consistent. The city mileage went from 19-20mpg to 23-24mpg. On average, highway changed from 20-21mpg to 25-26mpg. But, we had one trip where I paid really close attention, and drove conservatively, and .......it actually hit 30mpg for a while.

Good point, it would be hard to miss such an improvement, but on the other hand, it was a couple of years ago, before gas prices went through the roof.

Wow, better fuel economy, less impact on the environment, AND healthier air for the passengers! (never heard that one before). Almost sounds too good to be true!
And we all know about things that sound too good to be true.....

They most likely are.

Notice, too, the disclaimer to their warranty:

So if you're unsatisfied, they won't refund you, even though your satisfaction is guaranteed.

No need for mythbusters. Any decent engineering student should find the basic flaw with this device from his schooling. This device smatters of perpetual motion. It draws parasitic (electrical) energy from the engine to electrolyze water into hydrogen and oxygen. Yet somehow you're supposed to produce more energy than the parasitic loss by recombining the hydrogen and oxygen during combustion. It's not gonna happen.

Why bother with gasoline at all? Just make the device bigger and have the car run on water!

you can read their description of how the device works and there are some very big holes in it. they would have you believe that for 299 they will sell you a gadget that will accurately separate the hydrogen and oxygen[YEAH RIGHT} now for hydrogen to burn you need oxygen so you are going to use some of the o2 that is being used to burn the gas.this will play merry hell with the o2 sensors.sounds like a big joke[on any fool that sends their money]

by the way there is a epa test for fuel saving devices.it is thorough and excludes the chance of getting lucky.as far as i am aware there is only one product that has passed this test in the last 20 yrs.

They need to dyno the test cars to quantify any supposed HP gain.
