W124 ACC blower regulator repair
I'm wondering if anyone out there has ever been successful in replacing the transistor in the W124 climate control blower regulator. It is a similar part on many of the late 80's and most 90's models, The W140's have a factory part with an updated heat sink. The leads can be swapped, but the part itself is pricey.
The difficulty in accessing the regulator which is buried under the blower motor makes repair something that you would have to have confidence in. Thanks for your replies |

Rocket,
Below is a link that tells how to replace the blower motor. Under the blower motor is the regulator you are looking for. It is pretty easy to replace and you should be able to find a used one on ebay for a good price. I just recently did mine which is a 1994 E320 which is just slightly different from the tutorial. If you need any info just PM me and I will try to help you more. Be very careful when moving the wires from the wire harness around especially if it was made between the years 91-96, brittle casing to the wires. As I have found out. http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/W124BlowerMotor

Gary,
I am in the process of removing the regulator, and I can't figure out how to remove the heatsink from below the plastic thing. Is there a trick involved in removing that heatsink? Thanks. |

Hey Lee,
I wish I was at home so I could take a pic of it. It is a bit** of a job. So far I have replaced the blower motor with the one that you gave me(not even sure if it works or not), and that didn't do it. So, what do you think it is? Did you check the blower motor regulator to see if it worked? I have taken all the screws out, but haven't been able to move it from it's original spot. |

so is the climate control unit. to check the blower motor..you just hook up a set of jumper cables to the battery.... and put a couple of 12 gauge wires to the other end of the jumper cables... then touch those wires to the blue and red wires on the blower motor...you will see that it works. my biggest issue is that i am not a good troubleshooter...someone who is good with a multimeter should be able to tell you exactly where the missing link is....... search Arthur Dalton lee

I took the strip fuse off the mount, and it looks like it had caught fire. Also the fuse is a wrong 50A fuse, with wires all botched up, and what not. I was able to get the heat sink out, but I still am not sure if I can slide the replacement without breaking anything. One cabin filter instead of two, and it appears that it has never been changed. Still can't figure out to take out the regulator through that small hole in the plastic casing it sits in. Am I missing something here? Do I need to cut one of the ends to get it out? I am just so frustrated with this that I am just taking it to an Indy in the morning. Got some sort of an oil leak too.... I will quit my rant now.
