W124 300TE transmission differences

W124 300TE transmission differences

Does anyone understand the differences between transmissions that have been fitted to the same series cars. Specifically I would like to know if transmission model 722.342 is the same as 722.322 or 722.346. And, is a 300E transmission interchangable into a 300TE (that was 4matic but is becoming "2matic")
