Where is CPS on 2001 C240?

Please help me , according to MB repair DVD, the CPS is on the driver side of the engine, they recommend to remove air filter assembly only. I do not see it and there is absolutely no room to even do anything, should I then remove MAF (very sensitive, I do not wan to touch it if I don't have to)..

Thank you.

Check this DIY at BW, if you can't find it with this I don't know what to say. It is a tight fit but it's blind work on the E-class as well. Once you put your hand down there you can't see the CPS anymore.

Oh, I assume you mean CRANK position sensor. If not post back.

^^^ I'm always gratified when my work jumps forums.

mslc, assuming you're talking about the Crank Position Sensor (sometimes abbreviated KPS to distinguish it from the Cam Position Sensor), once you locate it, you may as well unclip it so you can look at the connector. You're in a bridge year so there are two different ones it might be, either a single-clip or double-clip design.

If you can unclip it, you can change it, that will tell you if you have the dexterity to get in there and work.

On your E-class, did you take the MAF sensor assembly out to get to the KPS? That is the only space with potential clearance to be able to reach out towards the driver side enfine block??
Thanks again, this is really frustrating, the replacement of his thing on my wife's '99 ML320 took me 5 minutes, on this 2.6L engine I cannot even see the damned sensor........

I couldn't see the sensor on the 210 until I removed the engine cover and climbed half on the fender and engine. The airbox and intake on the 210 M112 is on the passenger side, though. If the air intake on your 202 is on the driver's side, you'll probably have to remove it to gain access to the KPS. FWIW, the engine block (other than the bore of course) is the same as the ML, so the sensor's in the exact same location.
