Starting problems 2000 E320
Good Evening: I have a 2000 E320, 2 wd, which barely starts and runs as if on two or three cylinders. If I step on the gas or put it in gear it stops running. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, cam and crank position sensors, & throttle position sensor. This last time I had the electric windows rolled down and they would not go back up, finally got them up by holding the window button part way down.
Any suggestions, nearest MB dealer is over 200 miles away in Salt Lake City. Thanks, Jim |

Do you have the CEL on (check engine light)? Have you pulled codes? I would guess yes and misfire code. Yes? No? It sounds to me like maybe a bad coil, but it could be other things also. Why did you change all those particular parts? I am assuming it ran good before?

Thanks for the ideas. No check engine light and I have not checked codes.
It has had several problems recently.....started about a month ago with not starting, but having to crank two or three times before it would run. Changed crank and cam position sensors, fuel filter and that problem seemed alleviated. Then a hesitation with acceleration after waiting at traffic lights and stops, low fuel pressure caused the change of the fuel pump, pressure now up at 60 lbs. Did indeed disconnect battery to reset....that explains the windows. Will fix that. I will check the codes and see what I find there. Thanks, Jim |
