Power Loss?

What could possibly cause my '78 to seem to loose power briefly after a turn left or right?

Plenty of fuel
Doesn't happen if I slow to turning speed but stay straight then get back on the throttle and accelerate.

Seems like I've seen a thread about this before but I didnt find anything in the archives.

Thanks
Phil

Stumped??

I'm not imagining this.. Happened several times today with the same distinction. Only when I take a turn at speed. Not turning from a stop or accelerating strait line from a stop.

Surely it has to be fuel doesn't it?

Seems likely. But how?

I've been experiencing this since the tank was full several days ago up to now down to about half a tank.

This might sound crazy.... But I'm having some kind of weird feeling that this could somehow some way be transmission related.

Well that's not a totally crazy idea if it also happens when the gears should shift down - in manual transmission terms it would be like trying to keep the motor running in top gear at 10mph (if you see what I mean?)

Does that sound possible?

Not possible as its happening just before the trans up shifts but there doesn't seem to be any problem or change in the quality or timing of the shifts.

My bro and I got to thinking on this problem yesterday. It is rather difficult to describe what's happening and when. I was even accused of having "Benz hyper sensitivity" but we went for a ride and could feel the problem as described before. I could even feel it from the passenger seat.

Maybe I am suffering from "Benz hyper sensation" but I am just accustom to having it be tip top.

So, still a mystery at the moment but I guess I'm backtracking through recent repairs and whatnot looking for any clues.

As the problem seems to be with a Diesel powered car it may be appropriate to present your dilemna in the Diesel forum.

Should you post this in "Diesel Discussion"? A lot more people view it -- besides, this is the gasser sub-forum, whereas your '78 is a diesel (Right?).

Indeed it is. Must not have read the sub catorization of this particular forum.

Perhaps a moderator will move the thread.

So if you are shifting up - does this happen at the same engine speed then?

(And PM vstech if you want to be moved home!)

What are the specific symptoms of this "power loss"? Loss of RPMs, lack of pulling power, stumbling/hesitation?
