I own a 2000 E320 and the engine light has been on for a few weeks. During that time the car was scan tested for codes and although some have been identified and cleared the engine light is still on. The codes cleared are (1) P0410 secondary air injection malfunction (2) P0400 EGR malfunction (3) C1504-019 steering angle sensor fault.
I spent a lot of money so far and I’m told a third scanner will be required to identify and fix the problem and it will cost me $1,000/$1,500. Has anyone had the same problem? (2) Any suggestions? And (3) is it safe to drive the car? the engine light is still on but there is no mulf****ion shown on the panel. Thanks. Jalen |

Yes, safe to drive! Is the ESP lamp on as well?

Thanks. No, the ESP light is not on. I have to have it diagnosed soon to fix/clear the check engine light so it passes state inspection (overdue), any suggestions?
Is it common for a MB-specific auto mechanic not being able to find the code with two scanners and needs a third one (and more time) to diagnose it? I just want to put my money where it's rightfully due. |

For the (1) P0410 secondary air injection malfunction (2) P0400 EGR malfunction , do a search on this site. I "think" the passages in the head carbon up causing the problems you have.
As for the steering angle, it might be a old code floating around and isn't related to the first two. ( unless they share the same power supply ) |
