1992 W124 500E CAN communication problem and NO start condition

Hi folks,

Having issues with my 500E with the LH injection and M119 motor.

Car was able to start and drive OK few weeks ago. It has been sitting in my garage and now it will not start at all.

It will crank all day long but there is light off at all.

I have been getting help over at ********* but I figure I will run by the issue here as well:

I went to pull codes and I am having problems communicating with the CAN bus and the modules.

PIN 4 : I plug in all wires and hit the momentary switch on my code reader and all I get is a single blink as I press down the momentary switch, but thats it.

PIN 6 : Code 31 - CAN data bus to LH-SFI control module (N3/1), Left LH-SFI control module 23 28.0(N3/2), Right LH-SFI control module (N3/3), or Engine control module (N 3/4), Read out DTC for N3/1, N3/2, N3/3, N3/4: see
interrupted

***Hmm seems like a voltage issue?

PIN 8 :Code 9 - Engine 104, 119: LH-SFI control module (N3/1) voltage supply, open circuit.

PIN 17: Code 27 - LH-SFI control module (N3/1) data exchange malfunction

I cleaned the ground locations on the pass side strut mount (2 13mm bolts) . Removed the LH computer and re secured.

Went to scan codes again:

Pin 4 - all I get is a single blink when I press the momentary switch on my code reader. No other blink codes after. All I get is as single blink only when I press the switch on code reader

Pin 6 - Code 31 and cleared.

Pin 8 - getting code 9 cannot erase it....

Pin 17 - code 27 and I cleared it again.

So I am not sure what to do next..

The ETA and wiring harness are original but the belief is that the car should at least start .

Any help will be welcomed.

See if the ignition caps have condensation inside them.

I would chase the the brain's power supply problem. If the control unit isn't powered up, the injectors won't supply any fuel and the engine will crank all day without starting. You can get wiring diagrams from alldatadiy or other online sources.

I think that the brain gets its power from a power supply module with fuses, so that's an easy place to check.

Hey folks

I am getting a used BM for testing to see if it helps.

I am getting 12V to BM but then when I check pin3 on the 38 pin dtc plug I am only getting 2 volts

Perhaps the base module aka BM is the culprit..

I will keep you updated;
