W126 sliding jaw replacement
Had a jaw break, that small plastic part that interfaces into the rail. Bought 4 long ago. Finally replaced one.
The original is peened in as I am sure most know. That means you need to drill it out and somehow install a new one. Never mind that. Instead I cut one I had from edge to center on the long side. Did this after separating the two halves with a small flat-head screwdriver. Then I simply twisted it. These are very, very strong. I suspect made of some nylon. Once twisted I installed onto the original and still attached "pin". Sorta hard to describe, but it worked like a charm. Only issues was not having the pressure washer installed. But I am not too concerned about that. Just my two cents. Certainly sped up install and saved some headaches. You will have to do this with the entire regular removed though. But that is pretty easy to remove anyway.

So you forced it over the original pin that had been peened in and it held? I would have thought it would have stretched the hole in the plastic jaw too much.
I think I peened mine in using a bolt like a punch against the new pin. |

The jaws I have are MB made. I figured it would have cracked, but the plastic is very tough and hard to bend. It was a lot of effort to twist it onto the pin.
If for some reason it breaks, I will just replace the whole unit. But it was a job I planned on doing quickly, until I found the peened pin.

I tried that...it broke within 3 months
![]() I'm going to drill it out and use the bolt-nut-washer-washer-nut method.

When doing this I always drill out the pin from the regulator and then use a nut and bolt to hold the new slider in. Its better in the future just in case the plastic breaks again, at least it will be easier to R&R the slider and such. Hope you cleaned and lubricated the area where the plastic slides on the bottom of the window..

Yup. But the window is still slow. Pretty sure I will be replacing the regulator soon.

Also adjusting the screws with red paint on them so that the window isn't being restricted by the door and tracks. I like to feel just how free the window is while the regulator is disconnected.
