Were all 722.4 created equal?
I have a 1994 C280 sitting at my warehouse that needs a transmission. I believe it would have a 722.424. The car will not move at all until the transmission warms up, you can rev the motor up and it barely does anything. But once it warms up the car will move, and it will shift through all four gears though, you feel it shudder 2-3 and 3-4. The car has 275,000 miles on the original trans.
I have a 722.438 from a 1997 E300D with around 130k on it that is good, it drove to the scene of the crash.
Can a diesel 722.4 be used in a gas car? I'd assume I'd have to swap bowden cables and the rear mounts and possibly the modulator.
Is the gearing really all that different between the two?
