Replaced rotors and distributor caps. Drove the car like an old lady, causing 26 blinks on the DM (Upshift delay switchover valve, circuit open or circuit short) I did notice that instance of delayed upshift. The reason I drove like an old lady is because during my research I learned that the TPS uses a pair of resistors in it's circuitry, one increasing voltage as throttle applied, the other decreasing. so at light load, the voltage across those two resistors will not deviate far from idle reading. As I don't always get the 17 Blink CAN error, I'm thinking it's intermittent so I varied my driving style in hopes of narrowing down the causes of the 17 blinks.

Oh,,, forgot to add, the cruise control no longer works as it should, which could be a serious issue, as in related to the 17 blinks,,,

Drove her all day today, no misbehaving, why did I ever question you guys about the rotor and dist cap?

It's not very intuitive I would have to admit, so my little brain had to do some thinking about it.

Could it be excess noise from faulty rotor/cap? Could it be that when she did misbehave, there were so many codes being thrown out over a serial data line that they interfered with each other? Or is it an intermittent problem with the ETA?

I have to make a choice between putting tags on this 400e, or A 1998 E320. driving this one today makes me tend to want to re-tag her. At least while the weather permits.

When they are running right you really can't beat a M119. I would keep this one if you are going between this and a W210 E320

On that year I wouldn't worry too much about the codes, as they're usually just emission codes. Unless you need to have your CEL off in order to go through emissions. As far as a choice between the M119 and the M112, for me it would be the M112 hands down. Way more reliable and more cost effective for maintenance.

I hope the codes stay away!
