'91 300CE - W124 M104 - Cranks but no start
I used my '91 300CE to jump start my '72 250 - no problems initially, got my old car started, but when I went to back up the 300CE, it stalled and I haven't been able to get it started since. I've had ongoing problems with warm starts, but not like this, usually I can get it to start after some cranking - but this time it hasn't even tried to turn over once...
I changed out the OVP (with an old one that I had replaced a while back), fuel pumps are running and I can smell some gas, but it doesn't smell flooded. I haven't yet checked for any spark with the ignition...can someone outline the best way to do that on this car? Thanks - any help appreciated. ryan

Rgnprof, you are probably aware of the need to maintain the ignition system meticulously. If, for whatever reason, you haven't then it's possible the ICU (mounted on the driver's side inner fender) has failed. The easiest way to confirm is installing a known good one temporarily. The ICU (or EZL) is very expensive ... Around $2,500 when I bought one for our 1992 300CE.

I have a 1999 m104 model S Class.Never no problems jumping cars,or being jumped.More likely a problem you had, unless you got polarity backwards.Check all fuses,my computer box each computer has its own fuses.Check all relays and grounds too.

Yea, I've jumped other vehicles with this car before - always extremely careful. It's "probably" a coincidence, but...I've checked all fuses - even the 2 on the OVP (and swapped out the OVP, just to be sure). It doesn't feel like I have spark...I'm going to try and get to testing this today.
I am very much aware of the ignition issues and this particular EZL is really hard to find (M104 motor)... After reading about how difficult it was to rebuild these EZLs, I ran across a company online that sells remanufactured ones and will rebuild your old one - Rebuild Master Tech - anyone familiar with them? I might be missing something, but I always start with the Trouble Codes. What read outs are you getting from the DTC?

I checked the codes with my homemade tester - none noted.

Rgnprof, never heard of RTM before ... Was only aware of Beckmann Technologies as a rebuilder and I believe MB dealers sell a rebuilt EZL.
Replacing the coil if you buy a rebuilt EZL seems like an excellent idea.

Quick update - no spark...plugs, cap and rotor look fine. I tested the crankshaft sensor - 680 ohms (some specs indicate this is ok, but at the low end, others I've read put 680 outside the accepted range). I put a test light on the small nut on the coil and cranked - lights up but doesn't blink. Any thoughts?
