Rebuilt 722.3 Rev & 1st Only - intermittent (1995 W124 E320)

Hello Transmission experts - I have a '95 E320 US with a 722.369 trans. I lost reverse, so pulled and rebuilt the trans using new bands, clutches, seals. Its working great. Driven about 100 miiles or so since rebuild. When functional, the shift points, firmness, and kickdown are good. But the following problem is occurring: intermittent will not engage in gear selector position D or 3, but R and 2 are fine. Occasionally, D and 3 gear selector position will engage.

In reviewing the excellent 722.3 service manual: http://www.w124performance.com/docs/mb/other/tranny_722_repair.pdf
on Page 1.3/1 table of clutch and bands actuations suggests this could be a B2 piston or band issue. This suggestion is also (somewhat) supported by the excellent https://www.motor-talk.de/forum/aktion/Attachment.html?attachmentId=794727 which describes the B2 issue in some detail, although my 1995 trans has the updated T shaped nylon piston seal and the nylon piston sleeve bushing set into the case.
Please let me know what you think and or how to test. It seems progressively more frequent problem.

Thank you for reading. KenH in DC
