Checked the EGR tube and it is clear.

Reading the EGR posts, somebody mentioned a PCV orifice that can be clogged. I have found posts for 88-90, but not the 93. Is it the same system?

Thanks, again

Well, no luck. Now it runs worse

EGR tube was clear. EGR valve holds vacuum.
It was barely attached to the intake before, with one bolt missing.

Pulled PCV hose off and cleaned the orifice in the intake. Hope I got the right one. It's about a short 3/4" hose from the head to under the base of the throttle body.

Found another Vacuum hose that was off of the throttle body.

New boot. Original had a small cut around the clamp. New valve cover grommets for the intake tube.

I don't understand how it ran as good as it did except for the idle surge. It didn't act like a vacuum leak.

Now it idles about 1500rpm with no surge but backfires and stumble when giving it any gas. Now it acts like a vacuum leak.

Another problem I found is the throttle cable plastic adjusting end is broke where it goes into the bracket. It seams OK under tension, but there is a lot of play before throttle lever moves.

My throttle body harness insulation is deteriorated. I wonder if i made it worse by moving it. I figured I try all the other stuff first to rule that out

The main engine harness has been replaced

Please, any thoughts?

Thanks!

I also checked around the throttle body area with starting fluid. It made a difference before, but not now.

If anybody is still interested, I pulled Throttle Body out again and found I had left the four bolts snug, but not tight.

I have had a hard time keeping the base gasket in place, so I used two bolts about 3" long and threaded them in opposite corners of the throttle body. That way I could raise it with the long bolts and make sure the gasket was in place.

Didn't make any difference. Starts instantly and idles 1200-1500 rpm. If you open the throttle at all it tries to shut off. I you slowly open the throttle and hold it (may 1/4") it goes into a rhythmic almost stall and pick up until you release throttle and then it goes back to high idle.

No CE light. DM button shows #3,
Socket 8 shows #45, #8, #13 then #1 after repeating,
Socket 14 shows 2, 11

Thanks!

Forgot to mention, that the insulation on TB harness has crumbled and maybe taking it on and off has disturbed something. I have a second one that is also bad that I could try on.

I'm considering trying to rewire it. The second one has a "95" cast into the body

Or should I try a rebuilt unit?

An thoughts?

I have rewired harnesses before not difficult just use a board with nails to support it then change one wire at a time.
