Hello Gang! One of you will surely have an answer to this:
On my 2005 E320, with Bi-Xenon headlights: 615 BI-XENON HEADLICHT W.ACTVIE CURVELIGHT RIGHT-DRIVE With bulbs out on both sides, I've recently replaced both Xenon low beams and the halogen (H7) high beam bulbs. All four working. But, along the way: Both of the tiny bulbs within the high beam 'canisters' are dead. Pelican forum notes call this: the front driving light bulb (this bulb illuminates the high beam capsule) - having removed it, this is a 4.9 W tiny bulb; looks like a '168'. Can this bulb be replaced with generic LEDs, without throwing any CANbus error? I'm encouraged that there is no error seen with both of the original bulbs dead. ------------------------------------- OK - Answering my own question here: No, the LEDs are a no-go. They flash intermittently - presumably resistance is too low. Replaced with Standard 5W incandescents.

Many modern cars use PWM drivers for daytime running lights or indicators. LED's do NOT appreciate having their power turned on and off rapidly and will either strobe or flash. Given that the original bulbs lasted ~20 years, slap a set of incandescents in for a couple bucks and consider it job done.
