I just got my car back today I had the rear bearings changed on both sides. The mechanic told there were more problems at the drive shaft, differential area He told me that these three parts needed replacing 1) Drive shaft yoke 2) rubber coupler and 3) yoke bearing. I wondering Benzmac or anyone else could help with some info on this. What I am wonder if you could give some prices(estimates) on these parts and any others that you would need to do this repair and a estimate how much this would cost to take to the shop(Labor only). I am also wondering would this job could be do-it-yourselfer, not being a very difficult job.

Thanks in advance,
Mauro G.

I have never had to replace the parts he is talking of. Why would the flange be faulty? I can understand the seal, but not the bearing. Give more details please. Not a do-it-yourself job by the way.

Well I guess I can start with the symptoms. Before I took the car to the shop to replace the rear wheel bearings. The car would make gringing, vibration, shuttering sound in moderate acceleration. If I eased in the acceleration It would not make noise, and I could get up to highway speeds. When I got the car back from the shop, the noise was much louder and even at light acceleration it still made noise.I even noticed it made a flapping sound for a while as if something was hanging loose on the drive shaft. Could it be the differential? As for the parts all he said the same thing. I talked to him to day.

Thanks,
Mauro G.

I have had to do the flex disk, but never the shafts or bearings. Some thing is going on with this car I don't think I have seen before.
