I have a burl Walnut shift knob and need to install it. How do I remove the shift gate of my 500E?

Remove the trim around the shift gate, unbolt the retainer bolts for the gait mechanism, Get under the car and disconnect the shifter from the linkage to the tranny, remove assy. from the inside of the car, careful with the rubber boot that inserts in the transmission tunnel.
