Sample Issue?

Dear Mr. Minson:

Just tried to call your 888 number and I get message that it is disconnected. I wanted to order the free sample issue ($2.50 for shipping?) over the phone since my billing address on my CC is different from the mailing address I have in the states. I live outside of the states and use a PO Box service that automatically couriers all of my mail to Central America. And since when ordering over the internet, one most always needs to have the same billing address as CC address I tried to call in the order since this facilitates the order.

But, as I mentioned, the 888 number you have does not work!

The 888-225-6920 is working, just took a call. Try again in the morning.

Also, the 888 line might only work here the States, if you email me your mailing address I will see if I can find an extra copy to send you.

Mercedes Magazines

Prestige Magazine was great, I subscribe. Yes, it is leaning more to the do-it-yourself guys. Full of great material. Now for an interesting comparison. I subscribe to THE STAR, the USA Mercedes Club Mag, Mercedes Enthusiast from England , and Lode Star, the M-100 magazine. What is M-100? Well now, only the finest Mercedes models ever produced, they include the 600, the 6.3, and the 6.9. My personal favorite is the 6.3.
Some on this thread were trying to compare Prestige to Mercedes Enthusiast. The Enthusiast leans towards performace and has numerous and I wish to say, fantastic ads for performance. Prestige shows you how to do it. Subscribe to both, they compliment each other. I might add, buy a 6.3, you only live once. All other models are pikers when compared to a modified 6.3. Track slips don't lie. "Garages Kill", drive them or loose them. Dan Smith, Oregon

Received my very first copy today. Frankly, I am disappointed.

I'd gladly pay TWICE the $16.00 subscription rate for some decent paper and some real DIY articles. The paper stock is one step above an Autotrader (thin, semi-glossy on the covers) and what feels like heavy newspaper stock for the entire inside.

Also, you may wish to mention to the Albuquerque MB dealer that the twin-turbo V12 SL600 does 0-60 in quite a bit faster than 6.1 seconds (advertiser on the back cover). Sorry, I was just hoping for more.

BTW, congrats to Suginami and Eric Starr for the features on their cars.

Brian,
Perhaps you would give some thought in designing a professional looking site for your magazine. You would want a site worthy of showing Mercedes cars, wouldn't you?

Image is important. I cannot rate your magazine until I get my sample copy that I ordered mannnnnnnny months ago.

The new issue kinda hit at a odd time. First the printer we had been using went under, and we had to scramble to find a new printer who would print us before our Barnes & Noble ship date. We lost several pages of color due to how the presses are set up.

From the reader surveys we have received, the next issue will be set up differently. We are cutting back to one story on the new models, and adding 3 to 4 photo step-by-step DIY articles, and adding more reader's rides.

Next issue will be out March 20th. Feel free to email me your ideas and suggestions!

Gary, email me your mailing address and I will get you a copy in the mail.

Hey Brian,

I'm glad you ran the article (and maybe pics) of my 1993 300E (3.2).

Were you going to send me a copy of this issue?

I sent you a private e-mail....

Paul,

Yes you should have five copies in a big envelope by now, you might want to drop me your mailing address in an email so I can check and see if we have it right.

I hope one of those 5 issues wasn't the one I was supposed to receive.

Lots of bad press here for Prestige Magazine.

I wonder why the people who host this site have their banner flying about the place here?

Were it not for Steve Brotherton, Doc, Gilly and and some of the other pros, this site would be more or less the same sham that most car sites are.

Paul, you got a full page (page 13) Yes, plus pictures!

One troubling thing is that on page 12, there are three photos of Eric's beautiful W123 wagon. However, the banner headline reads "1987 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Wagen"....the article has quite a bit of W124 diesel info too

BTW, Paul's and Eric's cars are featured under "Buyer's Guide".

Brian, I truly want your magazine to succeed. Heck, I'd love to have 5 U.S.-based MB mags. .....and I'd probably subscribe to them all!

At this point, this publication is no substitute for The Star. However, I'll keep both.

With any new publication, there will be things that need to be worked out. There are several areas we will rework and add to the next issue for March. I'm sure most classic Mercedes-Benz owners who work or tinker on their cars will like what we have in store for them.

Please let me know whether there is something you would like to see us cover, or present.

well, I for one welcome a new magazine with DIY articles. All the car mags I've read (US & UK) only concentrate on the new/high-end models or stupid muscle cars that are find to look at, but don't really help you figure out the problems on your 10-year old family station wagon.

those of you complaining about it - give the guy a break, at least they're trying, and you always have this forum to ask questions directly.

I think what would be cool would be to trawl through this forum and take all the best & most useful tech advice, tips, upgrades etc and make a big book. Get a load of nice colour photos to go with it. You could cover all the older models that are easier to work on, 123, 124, 126 etc and split the book into engine/suspension/electrics/audio/detailing etc etc.
Get one of the senior techs to edit it and check for errors, and away you go. the thing would be bloody huge but hey, i'd pay up for it!
