I replaced the turbo drain tube grommet and Orings the other day, and checked the tach pin. Sure enough, it was completely gone. It must have broken off the first revolution of starting the engine, and I did not notice it (no tach in the '81 300D). I will get some shorter bolts, and supply one with each turbo brace.
