I don't think so. I had two Mighty-Max pickups with the 4D55 (2.3 Turbo), One a 1983,the other a 1985. I still have the engine from the '83 (actually a Dodge D50). Check out my thread "Rebuilt Diesel engines" on this forum. I currently have enough parts to rebuild another 4D55, minus the head. New heads are available for around $400. The only difference between a 4D55 (2.3L) and a 4D56 (2.5L) is the stroke. The rods and crank are different. Many of the 4D56's were also intercooled. Both engines share the same block and head, as well as other parts and accessories. These engines were made up into the late 90's for other countries, but only in Mitsubishi and Dodge trucks from 1983-1985 for the US market.
