Thumbs up Keyless entry w/ Vac door locks?

Has anyone installed an aftermarket keyless entry system (perhaps with an alarm) into their W126? I'm just curious if it can be done.

I havent done it to a w126, but I have done it to an 81 2d0D, and plenty of W124s.

you will need to wireup relays to activate the central locking on the w124, same should apply to a w126, otherwise you need to put an actuator on the drivers door to pull that lock down which will in turn activate the rest of the vaccum locks.

if you want a wiring diagram which tells you which wires are tobe hooked up to the aftermarket alarm, I can get one. It is not an mb wiring diagram, it would be from audiovox.

Fill me in!

I currently have a Clifford Alarm system that has the capability to do keyless entry, but I was being cheap when I had it installed and chose not to have it hooked up. If you guys could post the stuff that you have discussed privately, it sure would help!!

keyless entry

I have an 82 300 SD, and am in the process of putting in a keyless entry-- But all of the posts I have read seem to mention a " factory alarm" If my car has one --I have not found it, does anyone know if they were on all models ? or an optoin? I cant believe that this is such a big deal --as the auto locks are vacume --and all one needs to do is splice the control modual in front of the master vacume switch--- or am I mistaken in my ignorance?

1984 was the first year for the factory alarm, I believe. The 81-84 SD does not have a vacuum actuator in the driver's door, only a switch to activate the vacuum pump. Because of this, an electric actuator is piggy-backed onto the opening rod to work the door lock (and this switch) on the driver door. I did my 1984 300SD this way and it's worked great for a couple years now.

Maybe you could splice a vacuum line into the system and run it to a 1985+ actuator/switch in the drivers door and then hook up the keyless entry to the pump as others have demonstrated on the post 85 MB's, but it seems like more work.

The absolute best DIY (with full 52 pictures) on how to DIY for the 81-84 system and the 85+ system ( 21 pictures) is Thomas Pindelski's subscription site (~$30/yr.)
http://www.pindelski.com/

I'm not advertising his site; no affiliation etc., etc,.. but it IS good.

Remote door lock

I have remote door lock/unlock of my 1986 300sdl, my son's 1992 400e, and my "spare" 1988 300e. Autopage makes it. In fact, on the 300sdl I just have remote door, on the 300e i have remote door/remote start, and the 400e has all the above with alarm. Auto stereo dealer installed all the systems, with the remote open costing $119, the remote open/start costing $179, and the 400e is a full blown send/recieve unit that was about $379. Works perfectly and I would never ever do without!

Anyone know where to buy relays that do what the link says needs to be done for the vacuum door locks? Thanks

Never mind, I think I answered my own question. Found this universal adapter by omega (which makes the crime guard, I believe) that incorporates the 2 relays and vacuum interface in one unit:
