Does anyone know of a place to get an indash mercedes phone. I have a 300SL (R129) that I would love to put one where the optional phone goes in the dash. Another question, is the location already wired for a phone?? and does it work only with the factor stereo as phone call goes through the speakers?? thanks.

netdw,

I would expect that the dash area is for a phone control unit, not the phone itself, the phone goes in the console. I would expect that using something other than the Motorola phone used by Benz would be possible, if you had all wiring information on your car right down to every pin of every related connector. But installing the Benz phone would be beau coup easier.

BTW, these phones are analog only.

Good luck,

I have installed 2 Nokia hands free kits, both I integrated into the factory wire harness so that it muted the radio and used the facory mic and antenna!

This can be done, but is does cost. I would not do another for less than 3 hours labor. Or about $200. (Doesn't include the price of the kit.)

What about the control unit in the dash (pop up location)?? Let see if I'm getting this right, I can get a factory control unit to work with an aftermarket phone (ie Motorola, Nokia, etc.) Too bad you're in GA, otherwise I would have you do it. BTW what's the cost on a control unit??

Forgot another question. If I have an aftermarket stereo can I kiss the volume auto control goodbye. I have an Alpine changer CD deck. Also, you are saying that the factory antenna includes both am/fm and cellular??
