Mine does. Zimbrick European. They have about 3 or 4 MBs to loan out on a first come first served basis

I usually talk to the techs I know there after I have consulted the board and WIS and EPC. Then I go to the service advisor who is knowledgable not the other one.

No, I have never felt anything one way or the other in the dealership all the way when I owned a 91 190E 2.6 to a 99 C280 and now an 99 E300. In fact, I never noticed that I didn't notice anything till this thread came up. Never thought of it even. That is why I find it funny that people need to compensate for their ill feelings by telling themselves this guy is in debt and that guy is broke, etc, etc, so they feel good about themselves. What has the other guy's situation got to do with you?? You are you and he is he. I just don't get it.

I had an experience at my local dealer (Foreign Motors West) while buying a part (rack damper pin) as I stood at the payment counter..I started talking to a gentleman who had a $4000 bill on his 5 year old mercedes and he asked me what I was buying and I told him and he remarked how lucky I was to be able to repair my own car....That is the other side of the coin....

I find this to be very true. There seems to be a sense of amazement by driver's of newer M/B when they discover that you repair an old M/B yourself. They seem to have been convinced that repairing these vehicles oneself is impossible to do and are resigned to some big numbers when they drop the vehicle off at the dealer.

no matter how good

you have it, you can always find quickly someone who has it better.

fortunately (or unfortunately) also no matter how bad you have it you can also quickly find someone who has it worse.

so the best thing is to take your feelings of satisfaction from within. sometimes when you do something really good, nobody notices. so you just have to know that you did and go on. have your internalized standards and forget about the other guy. feeling envious or superior is not healthy. just try to meet your own standards and keep truckin'.

and often just doing something simple but positive and productive like changing your brake pads will do a lot for your good feelings about yourself.

and i generally try to avoid going into the dealership as much as possible. most of the cars i would be interested in they send to the auction or never see!

What does it matter if they are better or worse tho? They have their lives and you have yours. So what if they have more money? So what if they have less money? Are you so pathetic that you need to have someone at your level or worse to feel ok?

Man, it's probably very much true. Haha. I like your style. I would never, never, never buy a new or newer one.

I like your style. I've had several ask me if the owner of the car I am fixing wants to sell it . . . then I tell them that I'm the owner and they might not want to know the price.

I usually buy my parts from Phil but sometimes drop into the local dealer - MB of Lancaster (PA). I actually like it there. Everyone there is nice, the coffee is great and they usually have or get quickly whatever I want. Prices are dealership high but sometimes you need it right then. Besides, Lisa at the parts desk knows her stuff and is great looking to boot! So no, the suits don't bother me. I wear one during the week...wear jeans and grease on weekends.. .

I felt werid knowing that I was paying myself $100/hr instead of sitting in the waiting room having to pay them. The parts guys are nice and I dont think they are the uppetty type.

Hey as long as they dont charge you. But I bet they will "find" lots of stuff. They have to pay for their kids Christmas.

Mercedes has dealerships? What a novel concept. I have never been to one- well, maybe when I was a kid or something. I even sent my wife to get our mileage badges verified.
