The GTG's (Get ToGether) as we call them on the VW TDI Forum they are both tech sessions and socials. I have hosted 5 or 6 over over the last few years, and I think I got as much fun out of hosting the GTG's as going to them.

The TDI Forum has a section for just Meetings/GTG/Regional Discussions and they is just about always one happening somewhere in the US at any given time.

Maybe we need a new thread with this topic and see what happens. Maybe we can title the thread "We want a national MB convention!"

Who knows it just might work

What a ride!

Oldnavy,
I dont recall telling you this, but I have to tell you, reverytjimeI read the quote in your signature, I get to thinking and the more I read it, the more I beleive it. I dont know if you've seen the movie Second Hand Lions but the end of the movie is exactly how I want to go. I don't wanna go in a hospital bed, I rather go, in the middle of the action!! Like you say, skidding into homeplate all worn out! WOUPPIEE What a Ride!!

Good movie it was, felt sorry for the old lion at first. But yes I would prefer the same, not in the nursing home drooling and wetting my pants all the time. I have a brother-in-law in that position now, sitting in a nursing home in soiled pants wondering what is wrong and why he can't go home.

After I looked at the GTG, I hopped over to the homepage and looked over all the links.

Being a history fanatic, I loved all the family history/pics. You really have the family members well documented and I loved the old Ford in the background. Funny, before I ever read the text I was thinking cool foglights and push bar, then you mention it!

Of course the motorcycle pics were really neat as well. I love any old pics.

You've got a really cool sight there....

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks Bill, I glad you liked the family page.

I have a scanner now and this winter I plan on going through the chest full of pictures I have and expanding that section.

Im sorry you are going through that with your brother-in-law. That is exactly why I want to go in full action, becasue that way there is not that pain of family hurting over seeing you in that predicament. Imagine...I am such a DIYer that if I came to that, it would just not be me! Life is beautiful, but it sucks to have to just lay there and wait for it to end!

BTW, Great web site. I have to say THANK-YOU for serving our country and defending our freedom. It is thanks to people like you that allow us to think freely and express ourselves freely. I'll remember you in my prayers!

Old Navy, what is so interesting to me is all the family details. Being in my business, I can't tell you how many times I've seen family albums with all those nameless faces. You ask the executor [of the estate] , generally a realated to the deceased, who these folks are in the pictures and they have no idea.

So nice to see well documented family history. Also important for future generations.

My family history would interest you as well. I am closely related to someone I am sure you know. Can you guess who that might be?

Cheers,

Bill

Would the initials be E.R.M?

I'm related to a B movie actor who stared in a famous movie about a prehistoric fishman who end up being a car dealer.

One of my great, great, grandmothers was a Marriott.

Also thanks for the positive comments on the military career Robert. I remember my first home comming in 1967, it is not a pretty memmory and is still strange for me today to see such positive comments about military people.

I am defenitley tooooooo young. Who is E.R.M (or Marriott for that reason) (excuse my young ignorance!!!)

Old navy, I understand what its like to be a military man. There are three gentleman here with me in the seminary who (of course) are studying to become priests, and are members of the military. They are all from different branches...One is from the Navy, the other is a Marine, the other from the airforce. They are all studying to become military chaplains in the future. So I know how important it is to thank a military member!!! God bless you!

Unhappy He gave it to me!

Hey guys, guess what, that Jerk gave me a negative feedback just as I had suspected, after I gave him a negative feedback. Can you believe that, he gave me a negative feedback after I paied him within 12 hours of the purchase, more than that, the claim that I give a negative easily. He's the 2nd negative I have ever given!

Yup, you got it. I'm a great nephew.

On my mothers side I am a direct descendt of Wm. H. Harrison and Benjamin Harrison, two presidents of the 19th century.

I would also like to thank you and the many others who have served in our military. Some of my friends never made it back from Vietnam. The other day a guy walked into my shop and I hadn't seen him since he left in '68 for the jungle. Figured he had gotten killed and was more than glad to see him although agent orange has changed his quality of life. He's a little heavier than he used to be so I didn't rcognize him, but he knew me right away.

Cheers,

Bill

Sorry, didn't see your post before I posted my other reply.

Edward R. Murrow, one of the pioneers of tv news broadcasts. Had a show called [ I think!] "See It Now". That may not be right--it may have been "You Are There", but I'm sure some of the more senior members will know and straighten me out! E.R.M. died, of lung cancer in 1965 when I was 8 yrs, old. I met him once and he had a cool car-- a Comet. White/red accents, red interior. I guess it was his car. It was the one he arrived in anyway.

As far as the Marriott name, maybe the hotel chain? Don't know I'm just guessing. Walt will have to fill us in on that one.

Cheers,

Bill

Think nothing of it. We figured he would do as much. You responded to his neg properly and with facts. As a buyer there is absolutely no issue. As a seller, the explanations will speak for themselves. You did the right thing.
