WVO-Reg Gas Mix - Beautiful!

I'm running reg gas/WVO mix at about 80% WVO on an 84 300td. Filtered a couple times down to 10 microns, then mix the gas with it. Runs great! Smooths out the diesel vibration, smooth as silk, purrs like a kitten. Power is the same. Ran into a problem tho because the mix cleans out the system of all the diesel gunk built up over the years. Got tired of replacing the filters so I removed the fuel tank and cleaned it. Able to replace the small inline filter in about 7.5 minutes now tho. Love the veggies!

That said...

To the original poster, I've run my 603 with a flat plate heat exchanger before the big filter on 50/50 for a while now. It seems to run smoother. Check out the schur blend when you get a chance. It may be a good solution.

I see converting to WVO as the only way to get the GREEDY hand of the Federal Govt. and Major fuel companies out of my pocketbook.
Me 3.

Ive converted an 87 300D turbo about a year ago using Frybrid's system. So far, 17,000 miles trouble free. Ive pumped in 650 gal of WVO and the Benz loves it. Drives quieter, smoother, same power.

Read all about it here -- http://www.gruvenparts.com/Vegie%20Benz/veggie%20benz.htm

Man its satisfying to kick OPEC in the nuts repeatedly!

Nice set up. Looks like you have a nice set up for filtering oil. Good job man.

I personally don't like vegetable oil.
Fair enough, neither do I. I dont like OPEC either. I guess you gotta pick your poison. I wouldnt touch the stuff if the alternative from OPEC didnt fund ppl who tend to fly loaded jumbo jets into tall buildings.

I think its a disgrace to our cars to put these conversion kits in them. I like my car the way it is, the way it was intended to be. However, I don't have a problem with biodiesel.
Since your making bio-D you already know that bio D IS WVO (mixed with some harmful chemicals that have been known to result in burned down garages, and produce a by-product that must be disposed of). Without the disgraceful conversion kits, you could never run B100 in winter. It would be far better to run your motor on WVO using a proper kit like from Frybrid than B100 in winter. Not all of us live in Cali, we see temps in the teens here.

When you convert your car you need to first, convert it. This takes away its pride and value. Add a bunch of hoaky dash switches and gauges to it and it looks like crap.
Well, that depends on how you do it. Granted, my conversion isnt the cleanest one and I plan to go back and clean things up a bit. Ive seen very clean conversions that do not affect the "pride" of the car. The bigger picture which you're missing is it takes OPEC off your xmas list. Theres a lot more pride in that. But I agree, the car is classic and any conversion should be done as tasteful as possible.

Then you need to make sure you prime the car on diesel and purge back to it, and if you don't it wont start.
Frybrids kit has a controller which handles all that. My wife drives this around drinking starbucks and talking on the cell phone with 2 kids in the car and hasnt had a problem yet. Consider that myth debunked.

And anyway, you still have to clean and dewater the veggie oil, so why not add a few steps and make crystal clear, water thin biodiesel?
Well its pretty easy to clean/dewater the WVO. You just literally pour it thru a filter sock into a barrell and let it sit overnight w/gentle heat. Done.

But I see your point. I will now run Bio-D and WVO to take away the remaining 10% from OPEC.

I personally don't like vegetable oil. I think its a disgrace to our cars to put these conversion kits in them. I like my car the way it is, the way it was intended to be. However, I don't have a problem with biodiesel. Ive been learning how to make it and have now started building a processor out of 17 gallon barrels. If anyone here lives near Sacramento and needs good 17gal army surplus barrels for 5 dollars each ill give you the number. I do like how the clattering stops on biofuels, but I dont think the thickness of wvo is good for the components, if you can run biodiesel in a common rail engine, which are very technical, I believe it doesn't hurt the engine.

One thing thats always boggled my mind is how people convert their cars, instead of just making biodiesel. When you convert your car you need to first, convert it. This takes away its pride and value. Add a bunch of hoaky dash switches and gauges to it and it looks like crap. Then you need to make sure you prime the car on diesel and purge back to it, and if you don't it wont start. I put http://www.fattywagons.com/fwproducts.htm these on my 300SDL prior to my decision not to run WVO. I do run Bio-D and sometimes up to B100, thus, these heaters might still come in handy. Just the other day, my B100 literally froze, but at the time I had sufficient #2 so the fuel did not freeze.

I also found these rather pricey heaters http://www.vegiecars.com/Injector_Heater/ but even so, I think a heated fuel filter is a necessity, along with a heated fuel system.

The fuel line heaters will get the fuel up to temp quick, verses the slower fuel line systems.
