fuse overheats

i am having a problem with my blower motor fuse. it keeps heating up to the point that the metal gets discolored and black burns form around the terminals. i replaced the blower motor, thinking that would fix the problem, but i had no such luck. the contacts that the fuse slides in between has a thin white layer of something covering almost the whole contact. could this be the culprit?
also, i have heard of an aftermarket kit that moves the blower motor fuse to a more suitable location and keeps it from overheating. does anyone know the part number for that kit?

I had procured one of these from:

www.************************

The part number is 54-280.

It replaces the 16 amp fuse with a 30 amp fuse.

But, I will tell you that you must be a one eyed, one armed contortionist to install the damn thing. It has to be screwed into the fuse box from the underside, underneath the dash.

thanks. i found another post as well, that gave the part number of an equivalent item on fastlane. from the picture, it looks like that part could be easily built from parts at radio shack. looks like all i'd need is some ring terminals, 10 gauge wire, and an in-line fuse holder. will that work?

That will work. The purchased item is a little fancier with a outside cover for the wires and a guard that snaps closed around the fuse and it has a screw hole for mounting, but, if you are on a budget, you can make your own for $5.00 or so.

oh yeah...what about that white layer of stuff on one of the contacts that the fuse sits between? would that cause enough resistance to overheat the fuse?

Odd, I just blew my blower fuse this morning as I turned on my left turnsignal.

Yes

Any white layer of stuff can definitely cause that problem. I would clean it off.
