Outside Thermometer

On my 1984 300SD, is it possible to change the display for the outside thermometer from degrees Celsius to Farenheit?

I'm getting too good and multiplying by 9, dividing by 5, and adding 32.

If the processor driving the LCD is the same as the one in the W201's then the answer is no, unless you can adapt a later model North American unit (the W201's eventually went farenheit). I've opened up a couple, ran down the chip specs and couldn't find a jumper or circuit that would do the conversion internally.

you can get a different one that is in farenheit, you will have to remove your Instrument Cluster to install, but its really not very difficult. You can usually find one on ebay.

There are different ones, but later models, the wire harness may be different, so there's a good chance it's not "plug & play." I'm told that the extra wiring was to provide the chip with information about the car's speed to adjust the temp reading. The display is there to warn the driver of freezing or near freezing road temperatures, not really as an outdoor thermometer.
