Thumbs up Injector testing

One of our new members has setup an injector testor and has graciously offered to test injectors for members at a cost of $3. per injector .

His contact name is buyabsellonebay.

I've added this to the tool rental program for future reference.

Does this service include any adjusting of them or just telling how they are currently?

I had some minimal correspondence via PM. I did not get the details. However, if the nozzle requires replacement, the cost, naturally, will be more.

Send him a PM and check it out.

How and why would injector nozzles require replacement? I have access to a plethora of 617 injectors in case of that situation but am curious.

Reason I'm interested in this is I recall reading that balanced injectors and a higher pressure for delivery makes the vehicle run better.

I'm no expert on them, but, they can wear with age and provide a poor spray pattern. So, they have to be changed in this case.

I'm sure he will balance all five for the price of $3.00 each.

Send him a PM and get the details. If it works out, it seems like he'd be a valuable resource for everybody.

In fact, I should send him mine. They are sitting on the shelf waiting for the head to return.

Hrm... isn't it a 27mm to remove the injectors from the cylinder head?

That does not mean he is no longer doing it, only that he stopped coming here.

TomJ stopped coming here too, but I still contact him through the ShopForum PM system.

Now that I have all the tools and am comfortable with the process I am offering a pop test/balance/spray pattern check for members here. I will match the original poster's $3/injector to pop test and spray pattern check them if that is all you want done.

Injector disassembly, cleaning and balancing and rebuilding will be $10/injector plus the cost of a nozzle if you want the injector rebuilt. As a comparison my local injection shop wanted $24/injector for this service.

I will also offer rebuilt injectors with heat shields on a core exchange basis for $32/each plus a $15 core charge that will be refunded on receipt of a rebuildable core.

I will also include a printout with each injector that shows pop pressure, shim thickness and spray pattern.

PM me if interested.

Edit: I had to raise my core charge. I have done several sets now and have not got any cores back.

What does the forum recommend. I'd like to get my 83 300D to idle smoother. It's the worst after a highway run when the engine is really warmed up good. Motor mounts are new. Should I do injectors? One was replaced about two years ago. The other 4 are originals that have never been removed.

Tenative plan:
A local guy is parting out an 85 300D and will sell me the injectors for $60 (all 5). Buy these and send to bgkast to clean, test, etc. Should I also have the Monarch nozzels put on? What do I watch for to be sure the parted out ones are rebuildable? This would leave me with a drivable car while bgkast does his majic. My total cost:
$60 for the used injectors + ? Monark nozzles + bgkast magic = ?

I do not know what the cost in your area; but, if you go to the Junk Yard and pull the Injectors yourself out here in CA the Injectors are $4.99.
$25 for 5 Injectors verses $60.
This would be if you were going to use the Injectors as Cores to put on new Nozzles.

You'll have to tell me where to look or I'll have to search the forum for a picture. I'll be searching while I wait for a reply.
