126 rear brakes
Replaced my LR caliper with an Ate unit.
New pads. They scrape something terrible. I replaced the RR some time ago (I know) no excessive scrapping. The FSM mentions using brake cleaning pads. Not new rotors. Would using those cleaning pads help? The worst part, can't find any, these are fixed calipers, right?

Would this be when the brakes are applied or when the brakes are not applied?

The scrape is when the wheel is in motion.
Once the brakes are applied, the sound changes and eventually stops.

I had a strong suspicion that that might be the case. Even the noisiest disc brakes have a habit of getting quiet when the wheels stop turning.
You might gauge your rotor for lateral run out. Especially if the noise is rhythmic. If the noise is constant (when the wheel is in motion) , I would give the pads a little time to wear in before getting too excited.

I'm also thinking the sound will decrease with time.
Was wondering about those cleaning pads.

I've read about cleaning pads but they're not something I've seen for sale over here. These days the disposable society ethos has taken over - you don't save something any more you replace it. I saw a wheeler dealers episode where his nibs used an angle grinder and a wire brush attachment to clean up discs - but I wouldn't recommend it!
I think you are better off trying to cure rubbing by performing some heavy braking on a very very quite road where you will not get some texting bint driving up your chuff. You need to brake really quite hard to get the rear brakes to engage fully. Before streaking tarmac with black lines however I'd check the parking brake and consider those pesky flexible hoses...

Parking brake is fine, haven't noticed the sound, but its cold again.
The rubber lines on both rear calipers are new.

Are you sure these were ATE? There are at least 2 choices.

Is there a large lip on your rotor? If so it may be making the noise.

There is a lip on the edge, but I don't believe excessive.
Haven't heard much lately, but the windows are up, may try to listen today.
