Proper part name??

The little white valves on top of the valve cover under the black cover. What are they called? I know they have something to do with tranny and egr but can someone explain what they do. The little levers on mine are worn and I'd like to replace them but don't know what to look for. Maybe the reason for my too quick 1-2 upshift?? Any help appreciated.

They are called 3-2 way valves. Most people here will tell you to disconnect them and plug the teh vac lines going to it. They don't seem to help much in shifting. But sure can cause a leak that will hinder shifting quality.

What year and model do you have? Assuming a later 123 then-
The 1-2 shifting too soon has to do with the bowden cable not the vacuum. do some reading here and you can find which way to adjust it so that is shifts later. There could be some adjustments made to the vacuum control valve that might help too.

Thanks guys, and by the way I updated my signature with my newest toy! So what else is disconnected by removing the vacuum lines to these valves? Looks like it would disable the egr but what else? And also will it still pass inspection with the egr disconnected? Thanks again for the help, I'd be lost without this site.

Brian Carlton did some modding to this 300SD, including removing the valves and black box. Here's a link to the original thread.

EGR elimination, 617 engine

This ought to tell you where the vacuum connections go, and to get a better picture.
