Hmmmm

A little bit of googling based on where these engines came from lands you on this website.

http://www.usds.bz/

The engines probably run their tactical vehicles. No bids yet. Doubt they will end up being a good deal though. Some parts guy with deep pockets may come along and bid them up.

Would make a great biodiesel home generator project if you could not get it in a car.

The last picture explains it all. It's for a Haaglunds stamped on the crate. I thought those were OM617 engines only?

I presume the brass lines are for a fuel heat exchanger?

Hmmm.....

Sounds "Heavy Duty" enough!
Too bad the engine doesn't come with the rest of the unit........

Bv 206 or the Small Unit Support Vehicle, the "SUSV"

The Bv 206 is considered one of the world's most mobile vehicles ever produced. The four tracks in combination with light weight provide you with an operational footprint that is 1/2 of a man on foot. If you can walk there you can drive. That is our guarantee regardless of arctic snow, desert sand or tundra bog. Going fishing with the Bv 205 is an option since the vehicle is fully amphibious. 2 metric tons of cargo or 17 people is the design requirement for cargo capacity and this in combination with the fiberglass body structure and outstanding engine/transmission will secure you a safe operation wayout there in the back country. If you need to transport more equipment you can also hook up a 2.5 metric ton trailer to add to your cargo capacity.

Actually, it doesn't. In fact, the condition is stated as 'FX' which means as follows:
F = Economically reparable material which requires repair, overhaul, or reconditioning. X = Property has some value in excess of its basic material content, but repair or rehabilitation is impractical and/or uneconomical.

Soooo, it looks like it might be just short of being a boat anchor....

It would be nice to know the original factory specs on the engine.
