Guess what? He has changed his names again since yesterday when I reported him. He is now LIDAK246 with 6 positive feedbacks all private.
You have got to see the 83 300sd Monstrosity he is now selling. It is absolutely incredible, it is so bad. Just check out the temp gauge hiding in some of his pictures. The car is apparently idling and look where the needle is!
He also has a KIA and a Toyota listed.
This dude's cars are scary. I am sure that a live visual inspection will verify this, but what I hate are all the Bids that magically appear and then the prices go way,way up. Of course nothing seems to sell.

Here is the link to the 1987 Mercedes 300TD. Wonder how many other names he has registered on Ebay. Shill bids using other names?

Looks like it used to be Manila Yellow
Check out the temp gauge, and you can see brush marks on the leather where they tried to dye/paint. Radio is half out, Power Steering Belt is upside down, EGR Bypass, Wait a minute, this guys car must have been a former member here!

The AC blows ice cold air.The car has 2 seperate switches under the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel (see pictures),these switches turn the AC compressor on and off manually, the ac regulator buttons may malfunction sometimes (not depressing).

Well on the W124 wagon, I saw that the bottom right side of the rear liftgate was not in alignment like the other side, it has more of a gap there.

The hood looks to be a bit high on the left side too in my opinion.

Some parts of the truck look kind strange. For example, the area behind the spare tire cover seems very dark and has a brown tint. Though, maybe this is just me looking too closely.

The number one thing that I know is wrong is the front bumper. It seems to be sitting too low.

Hey, you got to give him an ounce of credit for putting a genuine battery in the car.... lol

I remember from my days of living in Europe that someone would take a real POS that needed bodywork and just paint everything one color. Door handles, bumpers, trim - everything.

The W126 300SD that this guy has reminds me of those cars. This is a real good reason why eBay should not allow private bidding and feedback. What good does it do when feedback is the only real way to tell if someone is a dirtbag.

I am not condoning the misrepresentation of a vehicles condition, nor am I condemning it, BUT...

This really is what passes for restoration these days, ya'll-- people can't afford the cost of doing it properly... but like most other facets of our modern world-- why bother to leave something alone whenever a small effort will net you large profits?

To witness this in action... check out Microsoft's 'new' operating systems.

I'd rather see nice, but a little tired original examples-- The same thing has happened to almost ALL the 60s Mustangs and original VW's too-- Just leave yours original, keep it clean and polished and youall will actually deserve these prices, and will actually fetch them-- with a clear conscience.

Live and let live-- It's going to happen.

iNeon, I tend to disagree with this statement. I dont think true connoisseurs would consider this 'restoration'. Look at members like Carrameow and others, including myself, that are infact 'restoring' our Mercedes, little by little, step by step, most of us driving them while we work on them. Most of us are not going for a Concours show car, but a clean daily driver.

These are clearly NOT clean daily drivers. The 123 TD thats on the auction block was bought for 300 dollars and came from Texas. I ran the VIN. This guy is clearly just throwing a cheap paint job on it, painting the rims (and valve caps and wheel weights), throwing a cheap set of tires on it and dyeing the carpet, and using smoke and mirrors to get beaucoup bucks for it. Google-ing websites that talk about 123s, and then copying and pasting them onto your auction does not make him an expert in any way.

For Comparison, heres Rag Doll 2 months after I bought her:

Here she is now

Not a concours paint job by any means, but I did remove all the trim and door handles etc, and installed new trim all around the car. I won't be passing it off as a A-1 Restoration of any sort, but I don't plan on selling it any time soon either.
thanks to H-TownBenzoBoy for the pics.

I clearly stated that I don't like polished turds; the truth of the matter is that ***CARS LIKE THESE ARE CONSIDERED 'RESTORED' BY THE GENERAL PUBLIC*** and the prices reflect it. It doesn't help that eBay basically does nothing about it and lets these people get away with it.

Krylon looks good in pictures if you spray a layer of clear over it, and Photoshop is easy to download and use.

That whole rant was basically me saying it isn't illegal, it isn't unfair and it isn't even frowned upon by the folks that run the website-- It is not the place to buy a car and we all know this.

My daily driver is also Barollo Red. I will be selling it soon to make room for the 1987 300TD that I just bought for my wife, and I will take her 1985 300TD because it is in better overall condition. I have Euro bumpers and a trailer hitch for it that I will install.

Did you paint it yourself? When you say you pulled the trim off, does that mean the trim around the windows?

Sorry about the hijack.
