"Hen's tooth" 1985 300D with factory alarm

"Hen's tooth" 1985 300D with factory alarm.

System inoperative, trying to restore it.

Three horns???
The third horn hides under the battery tray.
There is a black cylinder in each front (keyed) door latch area.
There are three wires to each door cylinder, green, yellow and brown.
No switch found under the hood, two wires are suspected, possible switch/bracket assembly missing.
Trunk switch present, four wires go to it, no power on any of the wires, trunk light inoperative.

Do you have any of these on your 300D???

If your insurance company gives you a discount for having an alarm, compare the amount of discount to the amount it will cost to fix the alarm.
In the end, money talks.

My grandfather always had the dealership install an extra kill switch in the console blanks. Good luck stealing that car!

My wife's car had an alarm system, but we had so much trouble with it that we had it disconnected. I think you are better off with some sort of hidden switch.

just my $.02,
Wes

There's nothing worse than buying a used car and finding the PO had hacked in some half-ass kill switch someplace, like the average 12 year old car thief hasn't seen this about 100 times before.

I'm still finding little bits and pieces of some after-market alarm system in my 300D. Someday I'll get all that trash removed.

They at least steal stuff out of them. I lost a MP3/CD stereo a few weeks ago.

Not really, but I like having the keyless entry that comes with my alarm system, and I do get an insurance discount.

That was popular in the 70s, you would use a key to arm and disarm it. They used put those ugly key locks on all kinds of new cars. Maybe making them visible was supposed to be a deterrent?

Yes but when its in plain sight as a regular button how is the thief going to know which button to push? I am sure the dealerships in Germany are more than capable of creating excellent kill switches
